Benchmarking the Information Society

SIBIS (Statistical Indicators Benchmarking the Information Society) is a project in the "Information Society Programme" of the European Commission (IST-2000-26276) which was running from January 2001 to September 2003.

SIBIS has taken up the challenge of developing innovative information society indicators to take account of the rapidly changing nature of modern societies and to enable the benchmarking of progress in EU Member States. These indicators have been tested and piloted in epresentative surveys in all EU member states, 10 Acceding and Candidate countries, Switzerland and the USA. The SIBIS project is closely related to the eEurope and eEurope+ initiatives of the European Union and contributes to measuring the progress of eEurope actions in the above countries. more...

Please note that the SIBIS project was terminated in September 2003 and that this website has not been updated since then.
